LEAKED: A Taller iPhone Panel - Business Insider
Despite new CEO Tim Cook's promise to "double down on product secrecy," the Apple leaks keep coming.
Now we have a video showing the front panel of a new iPhone from Japanese blog Macotakara.
If it's legit, this panel indicates that the new iPhone will be 10 millimeters?about 0.4 inches?taller than the iPhone 4S.
This lines up with the design schematic that leaked earlier?the added height allows for a screen that measures 4 inches diagonally.
Here's the video:

UK PM's ex-spin doctor held by cops in perjury case

Andy Coulson, a former editor of Rupert Murdoch's now-defunct News of the World newspaper, later served as a spin doctor for British Prime Minister David Cameron.
By Alastair Jamieson, msnbc.com
LONDON -- A former spokesman for Britain?s prime minister was?detained by police on Wednesday amid allegations he committed perjury while working as a tabloid editor for Rupert Murdoch ? a move that brings the phone-hacking scandal closer to the heart of government.
Andy Coulson, who worked as David Cameron's director of communications, was held in London by detectives investigating claims he committed perjury during a high-profile court case in Scotland involving a politician accused of taking part in adulterous, drug-fueled sex orgies at swingers' clubs.
Coulson, 44, was being transferred north from London to Glasgow, Scotland, for questioning on Wednesday, according to Britain?s Sky News.
Strathclyde Police issued a statement that said: "Officers from Strathclyde Police's Operation Rubicon team detained a 44-year-old man in London this morning under section 14 of the Criminal Procedure Scotland Act 1995 on suspicion of committing perjury before the High Court in Glasgow."
'War criminal': Tony Blair heckled while testifying about Murdoch links
Coulson resigned from his job as the Cameron?s chief spin doctor in January 2011 amid growing public anger over the phone-hacking scandal.
Prior to working for Cameron, he was editor of the News of the World, the now-defunct Murdoch Sunday tabloid. He resigned from that job in 2007 - also over phone hacking.
Now he is implicated in another long-running saga ? that of Tommy Sheridan, a lawmaker and icon of left-wing Scottish politics.
Britain's PM eats humble pie over snack tax
Coulson gave evidence in a 2010 Glasgow High Court trial at which Sheridan was jailed for three years for lying under oath during his earlier defamation action against the News of the World in 2006, STV News reported.

Tommy Sheridan and his wife Gail make a statement outside the High Court in Glasgow, Scotland, on Dec. 23 2010.
Sheridan had won ?200,000 in damages over an article that said he had committed adultery, visited a swingers' club and taken part in drug-fueled orgies.
Giving evidence at the 2010 trial, Coulson denied being involved in, or aware of, any illegal activities, including phone hacking, the BBC reported.
Earlier this month, Coulson appeared in front of an ongoing inquiry into press standards where he revealed he still held shares in Murdoch?s News Corp. while working as working as Cameron?s director of communications.

Your Boat Insurance ? Key Considerations | Millionaire Article ...
?
Cruising off toward the secluded blue, has the beneficial consequence of blowing away your life?s stresses and cares with the wind. Yet, before you voyage away in your beautiful boat, take five and think about the values of these questions. Do you have marine or boat insurance in place? Even though the answer that that is ?Yes? then are you sure your insurance essentials are being fulfilled?
Marine insurance categorizes vessels according to a sort of dimensions. ?Boats? are described as measuring between 16 feet and 25 feet 11 inches in length. Below that length then you are catalogued as small watercraft which includes dinghies, personal watercraft and so forth. If your boat is 26 feet and above in size then you will probably need expert insurance coverage. Now let?s examine some of the ins and outs as applied to typical boat insurance policies.
Physical damage coverage
The insurance business pays you for the replacement or repair of your boat, resulting from the ensuing situations: boating accident, criminal damage, fire, burglary, lightning, typhoons or tornadoes. Included within this policy are the boat itself, its engine or outboard motor and your trailer. Normally the ensuing things are omitted from the dinghy insurance protection, as they are not thought of as being a component of your boat?s operations: clothes, video or camera devices, precious jewelry or fashion accessories, mobile phone, and food, diving gear and portable electronics such as tv set, hi-fi devices or laptops. You could discover they are dealt with on your typical house insurance or you may ask for separate coverage for some of these.
Tip: I know it?s a pain but ? actually read the fine print. Then you will recognize what restrictions have been put on your protection. Can you boat be kept at your home? Otherwise, should the boat be at your holiday vacation location? Where does the insurance coverage start and end on the waters you can use? A few policies precisely list the requirements and restrict the use of your craft.
Individual Liability Insurance coverage
We hope you will never have to find how valuable this protection is. Normal marine boat insurance cover here ranges up-wards from $ 3 million and may indemnify you whenever there?s an accident and your boat is held responsible for damaging a separate premises, boat or trauma.
Uninsured Boat Coverage
This is known as the marine insurance equivalent to the road vehicle?s uninsured motorist coverage. For example, in the event that the owner of a watercraft who wrecks yours has expired insurance or worse, doesn?t possess the money, your boat?s repairs will certainly still be funded.
Passenger Medical Coverage
This insurance coverage will recompense the medical expenditures sustained by any individuals carried in your boat. You will certainly discover that there is another clause on your policy limiting the amount of people who can be on board at any one time? make sure you do not carry more as the insurance coverage will then be invalid.
Assistance & Towing Protection
This part of your policy will recompense you for the expenses incurred should you have the need to call on the emergency services. You may have engine breakdown or additional mechanical failure or damage your boat on stones calling for a pull back to dock.
What?s the base line to all of this? Be insurance aware in advance of you start your boating season. Take a moment to get hands-on and acquaint yourself with awareness so you are able to choose the right insurance option, terms and cover which your boat insurance policy need to include. Then you can take off into the blue knowing you are well prepared for any scenario.
To Your Boating Enjoyment!

Choosing Someone To Do Acupuncture Aliso Viejo
May 29th, 2012 | Recent Health News Articles
Many people like to seek out alternative health treatments because there are so many of them that offer an exceptionally high level of safety, and also give patients the chance to take a greater level of control over the way that they care for their body. There are things that it is important to know, however, before embarking on any kind of new treatment program, such as before looking for someone to do acupuncture Aliso Viejo.
It is absolutely imperative that anyone with an interest in getting acupuncture Aliso Viejo focus on making sure that they go to someone who is licensed by their state if that is a possibility. The tiny needles involved in this procedure do not generally pose a major threat, but it is still important to take every possible precaution when it comes to something that is going to be breaking through the skin barrier that protects the internals of a person?s body. Licensed practitioners have to follow rules that are designed to ensure that they do everything possible to protect their clients, such as discarding all of the needles that they used immediately after a session in order to ensure that nothing is ever used on more than one individual.
It is also very important to have realistic expectations of what getting acupuncture Aliso Viejo is going to mean. It is not a good idea, for example, to decide to stop radiation and chemotherapy treatments for cancer in order to try these treatments. On the other hand, many people who are currently in conventional cancer treatment programs find that they feel better and handle the harsh side effects of their medication more easily with the help of acupuncture treatments.
There is no harm in getting acupuncture Aliso Viejo from someone who is licensed and who follows the protocols that are designed to protect clients. However, patients need to be realistic in their expectations, and must make sure in advance that they are hiring someone who is going to be looking out for their best interests. It is never a bad idea to ask questions before proceeding with a session if there is any confusion whatsoever.

RemodModesto.com ? Home Improvement Jobs Have One Number ...
Many people do not learn how important safety is until they get hurt doing a home-improvement project. Some injuries can actually be quite severe, and even cause death, depending upon the severity. Typically, slipping accidents top the list of the most common incidents that lead to injuries at home. Falling from the top of your house when trying to do a roof repair is also a very common injury.
If you do repairs, and if you use a ladder, you might find yourself falling if it is not properly secure. A ladder must be situated appropriately and secured before ever using it. Follow these easy tips and you will be safer than ever when getting things done at home.
Well, we hope you are duly impressed with just this little bit about mold. To make things even better, you just need to push the envelope a little bit by discovering more beyond this article.
Yes, you will not only understand this better, but the knowledge you gain will have a positive impact. There are tremendous benefits to be had once you reach that particular place. We all want to have as much control as possible, even though we know we cannot control everything, but still ? knowledge lets you be in a position to respond better to events. You must always maintain your tools in a proper manner to keep them running. Many have purchased tools for thousands of dollars. But if you fail to take proper care of them you are often asking for trouble. Very often an accident with power tools results from improperly cared for tools. If you have power saws, then you may already know what using a dull and old blade is like. This obviously can lead to a seriously dangerous scenario where the blade breaks. Not servicing your tools on a regular basis can lead to safety threats that you do not want to have. It is in your best interest to do regular maintenance on your tools.
Taking care of rags that you may have lying around on your floor or work area may not be very safe unless stored correctly.
There is a concept of fire loading that is often heard in industrial settings. The more flammable material you have in one spot, the greater the fire load. Flammable solvents soaked into this type of material must be disposed of properly. It is best to put these in a container that is airtight.
There are any number of possible scenarios with electrical hazards and safety. Some buildings are very old so you need to pay careful attention what you?re doing. Over time, expansion and contraction of the metal screws may cause them to loosen allowing for live wires. Electrical wires that are grounded may be hot or electrical which can cause physical damage if you grab them. If your installation is brittle, it could be a byproduct of lighting fixtures in the same room. Conductors such as wires that are exposed due to flaking insulation may cause a safety hazard. Therefore when working with electrical equipment and parts, be aware of this. Many people don?t even think about safety when making basic home improvements. Savvy home improvers know, safety is a must. Keep yourself and your whole family safe by taking the extra safety precautions outlined above. Remember, you can never be too safe!
The above information was put together with great care because we know the value of accurate and timely material.
There are so many who have been helped with information just like this, and we also know that on our own end. This is definitely not where your progress ends, though, and therefore continue your quest to know more about mold and its dangers. Before you try to take any kind of solid action, be very sure of what you want to do and how you plan to approach it.
We never have any problems at all in disclosing that what I offer in my material may or may not be comprehensive. Each of the points covered will always have a sizable amount of background information that is an organic part of it.

People working there will help you through the process, expediting it as much as possible with their experience.
Selecting a representative can be difficult, but try to find one that has a sort of expertise in the subject you?re trying to work with. Call for an evaluation, or check online for a form you can fill out to describe the situation you?re in, in order to find the best person to represent you.
In the event of an appeal to the court based on what you?ve presented, its possible that extra time and money needs to be involved in the process you?ve started. Once you?ve found the right immigration law firm Seattle, a lot of the legal process and work to be done is out of your hands. The representatives will set up any meetings, training sessions, and things of that nature. They?ll even talk to the courts representatives so you don?t have to worry about that at all.

And I live with every wall area decorated with a painting, shelves and curious here and there, crap on the windowsills and every cupboard and drawer crammed. Cantina La Mascota: Or, How to Eat (a Lot) for Free in Mexico City ... A Rather Wordy Wednesday
I realize that I'm not exactly breaking new ground by writing about Cantina La Mascota. I didn't discover this place, not by a long shot: Other bloggers and food writers have rhapsodized about it, and yes, even Anthony Bourdain went there on No Reservations.?
And while I hate to be a follower, I simply have to join the ranks of admirers and tell you about it because, well ... the food here is free. And I'm not talking bar snacks. This is real food, from a menu that changes daily. The catch? You have to buy drinks. That's it.
But, contrary to what Bourdain would have you believe (I just love correcting that man!) you do not have to keep drinking copious amounts of booze in order to keep eating. In fact, of the three times Poppa and I cozied up to a table here, we only drank to excess once. ?The other two times we had just a drink or two each, and we still ate whatever we wanted. I won't go so far as to say this was the very best food we had in Mexico City, but it was?really, really?good, and so much better than it needed to be considering it's free.
The free food, however, is just one reason we kept coming back - we loved the neighborhood feel of it, the jukebox with mambo music, the fact that patrons got up and danced with some frequency, and the friendly staff. In fact, by our last visit we were treated like regulars. Ah, if only we could be.
I also liked that roving musicians would come in and ask if you'd like them to play a song at your table.
(Of course if you say yes, you must tip.) Check out the video Poppa made - I think that what this fellow lacks in ... tunefulness, he makes up for in enthusiasm. (Stay tuned to the end if you want to see Trix give the camera the old stink eye):
I am ashamed to admit that I cannot remember the precise name of each and every dish we had, nor can I recall the order in which we consumed these things. Perhaps the booze had something to do with it? Luckily a picture is worth a thousand words, so let the (relatively) wordless part of this wordy Wednesday post commence.
Behold the free food!
A word about that photo above - all of those guys brought us something over the course of the evening. Make sure you tip everyone individually to avoid confusion. We learned this the hard way.
And there you have it - good free food, quality cheap drink, and friendly company. What more could you want out of life?
Next time: the markets of Mexico City. Until then - Buen provecho!

NEW YORK (AP) ? The man accused of murdering 6-year-old Etan Patz underwent a psychological examination as he awaited arraignment Friday, exactly 33 years after the boy vanished without a trace in one of New York City's most traumatic missing-child cases.
After decades of dead-end leads and false hopes among investigators, Pedro Hernandez, a former convenience-store stock clerk, was arrested Thursday in the 1979 slaying.
Etan disappeared on a two-block walk to his school bus stop in Manhattan in a case that helped give rise to the national movement to publicize and find missing and abducted children. The boy was one of the first missing children to appear on a milk carton.
Hernandez, who was 18 at the time, told investigators this week that he lured the little boy into the shop with the promise of a soda, then led him to the basement, choked him to death and put his body in a bag with some trash about a block away. Authorities never found a body.
Hernandez, now 51 and living in Maple Shade, N.J., was scheduled to appear in court for the first time later Friday ? a date now recognized as National Missing Children's Day.
The first court proceedings were set to unfold even as investigators were still working to corroborate what they said was an emotional, surprise confession by Hernandez, who emerged as a suspect in the decades-old case just days ago.
Police said Hernandez was taken to a secure wing at Bellevue Hospital early Friday to get medication for an existing health problem. While he was there, psychologists questioned him about his mental state, then cleared him to return to a regular holding area.
Police would not disclose the existing condition.
His court-appointed lawyer, Harvey Fishbein, had no comment as he arrived at the courthouse, saying he hadn't met with his client yet.
He asked reporters to be respectful of some of Hernandez's relatives assembled at the courthouse, including his wife, daughter and another man, who huddled together on a wooden bench, turning away interview requests for more than an hour.
"It's a tough day. The family is upset. Please give them some space," Fishbein said.
Crime-scene investigators arrived Friday morning at the building in Manhattan's fashionable SoHo section that once held the bodega where Hernandez worked.
People who lived in the neighborhood in the late 1970s described the place as a neighborhood institution, and one of the few places to buy groceries in a part of the city that was then grimy, industrial and only just emerging as a haven for artists.
Former Soho resident Roberto Monticello, a filmmaker who was a teenager when Patz disappeared, said he remembered Hernandez as civil but reserved and "pent-up."
"You always got the sense that if you crossed him really bad, he would hurt you," Monticello said, although he added that he never saw him hit anyone.
Monticello said Hernandez was also one of the few teenagers in the neighborhood who didn't join in the all-out search for Etan, which consumed SoHo and the city for months.
"He was always around, but he never helped. He never participated," Monticello said.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Friday that investigators had yet to determine any motive for the slaying, but authorities said they have a detailed, signed confession, as well as accounts of incriminating remarks Hernandez made to others.
Etan disappeared on May 25, 1979, after his parents, Stan and Julie Patz, allowed him to walk to his school bus stop for the first time. The stop was adjacent to the bodega. The boy never made it onto the bus.
Hernandez wasn't initially questioned like other workers at the bodega and moved to New Jersey not long after the killing, Kelly said.
But the commissioner said Hernandez had told a relative and others, as far back as 1981, that he had "done something bad" and killed a child in New York City.
He emerged as a suspect after a tipster contacted police, following news reports about a fruitless search for the boy's remains last month in a basement near the Patz home.

What Are Dogs Thinking? Inquiring Minds at Emory University Want to Know
This is your dog's brain. This is your dog's brain on an fMRI scan.
When we peer into those big brown eyes, we think we know what thoughts lie behind them. Sure, we can tell when our dogs are happy, when our dogs are sad, and when our dogs are scared, but how can we ever know what they are really thinking?
Researchers at Emory University -- the same school where kids are invited to play with dogs during finals to help reduce stress -- decided to collect and compare images of dogs' brains in an effort to uncover canine cognition.
Gregory Berns, the lead researcher and director of the Emory University Center for Neuropolicy, got the idea to work with dogs after learning about the dog who was part of the Navy SEAL team who went in after Osama bin Laden. He figured that if a dog can be trained to leap out of a helicopter, then a dog can be trained to undergo an fMRI.

The study is in its early stages, but by recording which areas of the brain are activated by different stimuli, researchers are hoping to answer whether dogs are capable of empathy, whether they can discern emotions in their human companions, and how much language they actually comprehend. So far the initial research dogs, Callie and McKenzie, have shown that dogs -- unlike any other animal -- pay extremely close attention to humans.
Callie and McKenzie are making incredible contributions to science with their safety and comfort in mind. Berns said, "From the outset, we wanted to ensure the safety and comfort of the dogs. We wanted them to be unrestrained and go into the scanner willingly.? The dogs have been trained to lie perfectly still in the brain-scanning machines with their heads supported by a chin rest and their hearing protected by ear muffs.

The first results have been published in the Public Library of Science, and with continued research, Berns hopes to further decipher the minds of dogs.

Invasive species underwater: Deep sea animals stowaway on submarines and reach new territory
ScienceDaily (May 24, 2012) ? Marine scientists studying life around deep-sea vents have discovered that some hardy species can survive the extreme change in pressure that occurs when a research submersible rises to the surface. The team's findings, published in Conservation Biology, reveal how a species can be inadvertently carried by submersibles to new areas, with potentially damaging effects on marine ecosystems.
After using the manned submersible Alvin to collect samples of species from the Juan de Fuca Ridge under the northeastern Pacific Ocean, the team discovered 38 deep-sea limpets (Lepetodrilus gordensis) among their sample. Intriguingly this species is believed to occur only in the vents of the Gorda Ridge, which are 635 km south of the dive site.
"The big question was, how did they get over 600 kilometers from their habitat?" said Dr. Janet Voight, from the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. "We discovered that the individuals must have been transported from the Gorda Ridge by our submersible. Even though we clean the submersibles after sampling we had assumed that the extreme pressure change would kill any species which are missed."
The introduction of new species to an ecosystem by humans, often inadvertently, is a big challenge to conservation. How a new species will react to new surroundings, and the effect it can have, is unpredictable. Increases in deep-sea drilling and submersible activity can increase the probability of introductions, but until now hydrothermal vents have been considered too extreme and too isolated to be a source of introduced species.
In coastal environments one of the biggest threats posed by invasive species to native species is disease, as newly introduced pathogens and parasites can cause mass mortality. Diseases that may exist in the extreme environments created by hydrothermal vents have not been well studied.
"We've discovered that it is possible to accidently introduce a species, and any potential diseases it may carry, from a deep-sea vent to a new location," concluded Voight. "This has implications for the future exploration of hydrothermal vents as it reveals the potential risk of human driven change to the ecosystem."

Basic Email Marketing Tips You Should Learn By Heart | Article ...
?
By Benedict Norden
There are a lot of ways to promote an online business. The Internet is a vast space open for all sorts of innovation and anyone who has a sufficient amount of creative juices can discover a way to go about something. For instance, sending emails is no longer just a way to communicate with family and friends; it can now be a fantastic avenue to market products and services. With just a click, you can already reach your target audience. The only downside is the negative impression which sometimes comes with email marketing. Because the method is simple and easy, it had been prone to abuse; spamming became a consequent problem. In the following, you will learn about important email marketing tips that will teach you how to do things correctly.
Legitimately acquire email addresses? The main reason why some marketing materials are labeled as spam is because they are from unknown senders. If you would only take the time to politely ask prospective clients of their email information and tell why you?re asking, you can likely get a favorable response. This would even be more so if you offer to give something of value such as a discount certificate or seo videos or a free e-book. An e-book in exchange of an email address sounds quite fair, don?t you agree?
Introduce your company and create a caring impression? Some businesses send newsletters talking about how their ventures started. While it may sometimes be interesting to learn of someone?s humble beginning, it?s not always a fun thing to do. This is particularly true if you are not getting anything more from it than mere history. One of the email marketing best practices is being able to tell the public who you are and showing how much you care at the same time. People gravitate towards those who make them feel cared for. Hence, if you can show them that you are more than an ordinary merchant, you can surely win them.
Make your readers the center? There are numerous email marketing tips in every seo campaign out there but not a lot of them emphasize the criticality of making the readers the center. See, readers are also your target market. From them, your buyers may arise. If you keep this in mind, then you would know how to give them sufficient consideration. What do they expect from you? What do they wish to have? Being sensitive to the answers would give you a good idea on how to treat your audience well.
Welcome changes? Changes are inevitable particularly in running a business. The market is very dynamic so it?s necessary that you are dynamic too. Otherwise, you won?t be able to keep up with the demands of the industry. If after several tries your email marketing efforts don?t seem to be yielding expected results, you should then be willing to review your methodology and revise what needs revising.
There are still a lot of email marketing tips that can help you run a successful campaign, but, these are the ones you should be able to remember off the top of your head. They are easy, practical, and have been proven effective by many.

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) ? Syria's oil minister blamed international sanctions Wednesday for shortages of cooking gas and other basic goods, saying the measures have bled $4 billion from the nation's ailing economy.
President Bashar Assad's regime must strike a delicate balance toward the U.S. and EU sanctions as it confronts a 15-month-old uprising against its rule, acknowledging their heavy toll while denying the regime's grip on power is in any way shaken.
Sufian Allaw said the punitive measures were to blame for the shortages that have left Syrians across the country standing in long lines to pay inflated prices for cooking gas, fuel, sugar and other staples.
The U.S. ambassador to Damascus denied that the international sanctions are to blame for the shortages facing Syrians.
"Our sanctions purposefully do not target oil and diesel imports, because we know that the Syrian people need both for their day-to-day lives," Ambassador Robert Ford wrote on the embassy's Facebook page.
Ford said the government is using fuel imports for its tanks.
"If the Assad regime decided to cut its military expenditures, more diesel and oil would be available for the Syrian people to use," he said.
Before the Syrian uprising began in March 2011, the oil sector was a pillar of Syria's economy, with oil exports ? mostly to Europe ? bringing in $7-8 million per day. This income was key to maintaining the $17 billion in foreign reserves that the government had at the start of the uprising.
Speaking to reporters in Damascus Wednesday, Allaw said sanctions had cost Syria's oil sector about $4 billion.
Prices for a tank of cooking gas have spiraled to some $25 as shortages have spread across the country. Allaw said Syria's gas production covers only half of the country's needs.
Officials are seeking imports from countries not party to the sanctions. A Venezuelan tanker carrying 35,000 tons of fuel docked in Syria on Tuesday, Allaw said. Another is supposed to follow.
He said officials were seeking to arrange further gas imports from Algeria and Iran.
Syria's uprising began with mostly peaceful calls for reform, but the government's brutal crackdown on dissent led many in the opposition to take up arms.
The U.N. estimates more than 9,000 people have been killed, most of them civilians.
Violence in Syria also has spilled over into Lebanon, and Russia warned on Wednesday that greater violence in Syria's neighbor to the west was "a tangible threat" that "could end very badly."
Syria and Lebanon share a complex web of political and sectarian ties and rivalries, often causing events on one side of the border to echo on the other.
The arrest earlier this month of an outspoken Lebanese critic of Syria led to gunbattles in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli that killed at least eight people and wounded many more.
And Syria's state news agency said armed gunmen had kidnapped 11 Lebanese Shiite pilgrims in Syria on Tuesday, setting off protests in Beirut's Shiite-dominated southern suburbs where residents burned tires and blocked roads.
Lebanon's parliament speaker Nabih Berri told reporters in Beirut on Wednesday that the captives "will be with their families today or tomorrow."
He gave no further information on where they are or who is holding them.
Syria's state news agency blamed rebels for the kidnapping. It said the Lebanese group was on its way home from a religious pilgrimage in Iran when rebels intercepted their vehicles and abducted the 11 men and their Syrian driver.
Lebanese security officials confirmed the kidnapping.
World powers have pinned their hopes for an end to the Syrian crisis on a peace plan brokered by international envoy Kofi Annan that calls for a cease-fire by all sides to allow for dialogue on a political solution.
But that plan is under strain. A cease-fire between government troops and rebels that was supposed to start last month has never really taken hold.
A bomb planted under a military bus exploded Wednesday near the Damascus airport, killing one soldier and wounding 23 others, a military official at the site said on condition of anonymity under army rules.
Anti-regime activist reported government rocket attacks on parts of the central city of Homs and clashes between rebels and government troops in the central town of Rastan, outside of Damascus and elsewhere.
The prospects for talks between the regime and those seeking to topple it appear as distant as ever. Assad's government dismisses the opposition as "armed terrorists."
For their part, opposition leaders say the regime has killed too many civilians to play a role in the conflict's solution.
An Arab League official said that Arab Foreign Ministers will hold an emergency meeting at the Arab League's Cairo headquarters on June 2 to discuss Syria.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to brief the media, said ministers will discuss Annan's peace mission.
