Kate Middleton Having Baby Shower

The British royal will celebrate the fact she?s expecting her first child with husband Prince William at a party thrown by her sister Pippa Middleton.
?It was her sister Pippa?s idea,? a source tells OK! magazine.
?While it?s all going to be very relaxed and fun, Kate is hoping the queen will drop by because the two are remarkably close. They bonded big time and really enjoy each other?s company. Since this is going to be a first for royals, Kate would love the queen to be part of it.
?Pippa is in charge of decorations.
?Wine and beer will be available ? not that Kate will be drinking alcohol, of course. There will certainly be none of the hard stuff.?
Meanwhile, sources say Middleton is worried the Royal Family is putting her unborn child at risk with a hectic schedule of appearances.
Sources say Kate?s close friends are begging her to get some rest before her pregnancy ends in tragedy.
?All Kate really wants to do is lay low at home, put her feet up and watch movies like the rest of her pregnant friends,? a source said.
Kate, 31, who is five months along, however, feels obligated to pick up the slack for Queen Elizabeth, 86, who is recovering from a mystery illness that required an overnight stay in the hospital
?Kate suffered a horrendous early pregnancy with agonizing morning sickness and might have lost her baby,? said the source.
?Now she?s become the royal workhorse and it?s obvious to anyone that she?s burdened with more engagements than is safe for a heavily pregnant woman expecting her first child.
?Her schedule is ridiculous. It?s bound to create stress, and it?s high time the palace recognized the danger. There?s a real chance Kate could collapse.?

Obama apologizes for commenting on AG's looks
President Barack Obama called California Attorney General Kamala Harris to apologize after calling her "by far, the best-looking attorney general" during remarks at a fundraiser in Atherton, Calif., on Thursday, the White House confirmed on Friday.
"The president did speak with Attorney General Harris last night after he came back from his trip," White House press secretary Jay Carney said at Friday's press briefing, "and he called her to apologize for the distraction created by his comments." Carney said Obama and Harris are "old friends" and "he did not want in any way to diminish the attorney general's profession, accomplishments and her capabilities." Carney lauded her experience and record, repeating the professional compliments the president had also issued on Thursday night.
"He fully recognizes the challenges women continue to face in the workplace and that they should not be judged based on appearance," Carney said.
At the start of his current term, the president faced criticism for nominating only white men to top administration positions, including in a New York Times story discussing the president's all-male inner circle.
Since then, the president's nominations have included REI CEO Sally Jewell to lead the Interior Department, Secret Service Chief of Staff Julia Pierson to head that agency and Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Tom Perez to head Labor.

Teen hiker found alive after three days, friend still missing

A 19-year-old who had been missing in California's Cleveland National Forest for three days was found alive late Wednesday, police said, but the search continued for his hiking companion.
Rescue crews ratcheted up their search of the rugged terrain about 7:50 p.m. PT (10:50 p.m. ET) ?after receiving a tip from a hiker who said he had spotted Nicholas Cendoya. The whereabouts of Cendoya's friend Kyndall Jack, 18, were not immediately known,?Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Jason Park said.
As the search continued for Jack, Cendoya was airlifted from the canyon and taken to a hospital where he was listed in serious condition. Hospital officials said Cendoya was "foraging for food off the land" to survive.
"He is weak, severely dehydrated and slightly confused," OC Fire Authority?s Kris Concepcion said.
Waiting at the Trabuco Canyon Fire Station, a command post during the search, Cendoya's friends and family erupted in cheers when they were told the teen had been found alive.
The young hikers, both from Costa Mesa, Calif., had called 911 at 8:30 p.m. PT (11:30pm ET) on Easter Sunday to say they were lost, but their cellphone batteries died and authorities could not locate them.

Since Monday, searchers on foot, dogs and helicopters have been combing over a network of trails in the Holy Jim Canyon area, trying to find the two teens.

On Wednesday, dozens of volunteers joined official search crews that began work at 6 a.m. PT (9 a.m. ET) -- so many extra searchers that some were turned away.
A couple of volunteer searchers had gotten lost in afternoon and were in cell phone communication with authorities, who had not been able to track them down as of 6 p.m. PT (9 p.m. ET), according to authorities on scene.
Russ Jack, Kyndall Jack's father, begged volunteers to stay away from the search area unless they're experience hikers. He called the scene a "modern-day circus," but assured volunteers he was grateful for their efforts.
"We don't need lookey-loos up here just hanging out and not helping. If you're not an experienced hiker or a mountain biker, then please stay home," Russ Jack said. "There's just too many people and it's hurting the efforts that the authroties have put into this right now."
Dawn Jack, Kyndall's mom, teared up in front of news cameras when the pair spoke.
"We just need our children to come home safely," Dawn Jack said. "We need for everybody else to leave here safe, so please help us out now by not coming up just to hang out ? we know you love us and are supporting us."
Officials with the Orange County Sheriff's Department said enough personnel had been scheduled to continue the search through the weekend.
"We're going to increase the number of our ground searches. We're going to commence with air operations in strategic areas with high terrain that's difficult to traverse," said Orange County Fire Authority spokesman Capt. Jon Muir. "It's going to be a combined effort, and we're not going to stop until we have a good resolution."
Authorities have said the fairly mild conditions in the area are survivable, even when temperatures drop overnight. But the terrain off-trail can be difficult, and it's possible one or both of the hikers were injured, search officials said.
Grief counselors were at Costa Mesa High School -- the pair's alma mater -- for the first time on Wednesday. Cendoya played football, while Jack is known as "the jackhammer" on the volleyball team.

Bird flu 101: How bad is the new H7N9 strain?
A bird flu virus never before found in humans has grabbed world attention this week after it infected and killed people in China. Scientists have been scrambling to understand how it happened and, more importantly, whether it poses a risk to public health or could potentially spark a global pandemic.
The good news is that so far there's no sign that the H7N9 virus is spreading from person to person, but experts say it has mutated in a way that has left them a bit worried. Here's a crash course in Bird Flu 101 to help explain what's known about the strain and why it matters:
Q: What is the H7N9 virus and what do we know about it?
A: The H7N9 strain ? named for the combination of proteins on its surface ? has infected at least 11 people in China since February, killing four of them. The latest cases were confirmed Thursday, four days after the initial announcement. Symptoms include fever and respiratory problems, including severe pneumonia. Much still remains unknown about the virus, including how people are getting infected, but scientists say it contains genetic markers that could help it infect humans. It is circulating in poultry stocks, but is considered a "low pathogenic" virus that is not sickening birds. This can allow it to spread in flocks unnoticed, making it much harder to track and also possibly creating more contamination since the birds are surviving and spending more time on farms, in markets and elsewhere.
Q: How concerned should the public be about the H7N9 virus?
A: At this point, experts say there is no cause for alarm, but they are watching it closely. No evidence exists that the virus is spreading from person to person, and no cases have been reported outside China. Samples are being collected from patients, and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention is sharing genetic sequences with outside scientists. This allows the world's top flu experts to study the virus and look for mutations that could make it more dangerous. Poultry and its products are safe to eat as long as they are properly cooked.
Q: Is there a vaccine?
A: No vaccine exists, but the World Health Organization and its partners are already working to isolate and identify possible candidate viruses that could be used to make a future vaccine if necessary. However, it would likely take months to produce the first doses.
Q: What changes are scientists seeing in the virus and why is this important?
A: Although it is not yet clear, the virus appears to have mutated in a way that would make it easier for it to adapt and grow at normal body temperature in mammals. Scientists are working to figure out which species could now be playing host to the virus, and one possibility is pigs.
Swine are important because they share some basic biological similarities with humans, and they can serve as "mixing vessels" if infected with different flu strains at the same time.
Other possibilities are that the mutations could be occurring in poultry or they are being generated after people are infected by birds.
"To me, the most important question to find out is: What is the actual host of this virus?" said Richard Webby, director of a WHO flu center at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. "It really looks like there's been some mammalian host involved."
Q: How is this bird flu different from the H5N1 strain everyone has been so concerned about in the past?
A: Unlike the H7N9 strain, the H5N1 virus is highly lethal in birds, making it easier to identify and eliminate poultry outbreaks. H5N1 remains an avian influenza and has not taken root in another species, such as pigs. Most human infections have been linked to contact with infected birds. Scientists have been closely watching the virus since it first appeared in Hong Kong in 1997. It resurfaced in 2003 and decimated poultry stocks across Asia and has since killed at least 371 people. About 60 percent of those infected die, and experts have long feared the H5N1 virus could mutate into a form that spreads easily from person to person, possibly igniting a pandemic.
